IMPORTANT CLINIC POLICIES

  • CANCELLATION POLICY : We require 24 hours notice for any cancellations or changes to your appointment. Patients who provide less than 24 hours notice or miss their appointment, will be charged a LATE CANCELLATION FEE which is the full cost of the treatment booked. All LATE CANCELLATION & NO SHOWS fees will be charged to the credit card on file.

  • ADMIN STAFF : As of January 1st 2023, our administrative staff work mostly remote and will only be available to assist patients over the phone or email.

  • INSURANCE BILLING : If the insurance information is not added to the intake form before the appointment or added incorrectly patients will be expected to pay privately. The practitioner will not be able to assist you with any issues related to insurance billing. Please call the admin team if you have questions about your insurance, and they can help to arrange this for your next appointment.

  • PAYMENT: The practitioner will be able to assist you with payment, this is included in the treatment time. If you would instead like the credit card on file charged, inform the administrative staff ahead of time and a note will be added to your account, and payment will not be included as part of your treatment.

  • INTAKE FORMS : We require that an updated intake form is completed every year or upon a change in medical history. This will be emailed to all patients late December or early January. Without a completed updated intake form, we will not be able to directly bill insurance and practitioners will not provide treatment. As a reminder all forms are completed electronically, and it is strongly encouraged to complete this before your appointment. Completing forms at the time of the appointment will be considered part of the scheduled appointment time.

**A doctor's note is required for ALL new patients prior to booking Manual Lymphatic Drainage to ensure there are no under-lying health risks.**

Manual Lymphatic Drainage also known as MLD is a gentle, non-invasive manual technique that has a powerful effect on the body. Research in Australia, Europe and North America has proven its efficacy as a stand-alone treatment and in combination with other therapies.

Developed in France in 1932 by Emil and Estrid Vodder MLD has grown to be the most well known manual technique to assist lymph flow and aid in drainage of tissues.

The skin is stretched and torqued in a specific manner, based on scientific, physiological principles that have proven to encourage lymph flow. If performed correctly with the correct pressure, direction and speed, this can greatly enhance recovery and facilitate drainage. It also has profound effects on systems in the body.

Her approach to treatment is patient goal oriented while maintaining a relaxing atmosphere. She is proficient in many types of techniques including Swedish massage, joint mobilizations, trigger point release and fascial mobilization. She has a strong drive to continue learning new techniques and skills to further help her clients, and looks forward to working with a variety of clients, and helping them to reach their goals for treatment. She also hopes to bridge her previous career, working with children with ASD, to create accessible and flexible treatments for children with autism and other diagnoses.

Emma first became interested in massage therapy while studying developmental psychology when an anatomy class ignited a passion for learning a more direct and hands-on approach to helping her clients feel their best. Before entering the massage therapy program, Emma worked for 4 years as a respite worker and behavioural interventionist, working with children on the autism spectrum.

Outside of the clinic, she can be found volunteering with a therapeutic riding program, cooking, exploring local parks and spending time with her family and friends.

Alex received his education from the Vancouver College of Massage Therapy, graduating with honours in August 2022. His journey first began at the University of Fraser Valley where he intended to major in English rhetoric and composition but found his interest in human physiology and biology. He desired a career where he could use his hands and apply his mind and found that in massage therapy, and later discovering that he loved being one on one with his patients.

Alex believes in treatments and techniques that are curated to his patients and their needs. While trained in various modalities, his approach includes—but not limited to—Swedish, joint mobilizations, myofascial release, and neuromuscular techniques; hence, he has seen great benefits when these techniques are used correctly and applied to indicated areas.

Away from work, Alex loves to read classical and modern literature, philosophy, and poetry. He enjoys exercises using plyometrics, calisthenics, and weighted workouts. He’s affable and loves conversation, always prioritizing quality time with family and friends.

In the future, Alex hopes to continue his education in muscle energy techniques, Bowen therapy, Craniosacral, and Osteopathy.
